Item Descriptions and Production Notes help to describe products for Customers and Back-of-House Staff. Learning how to use them effectively will help you to better sell your food and prepare it the right way.
Remember that Customers can't see Production Notes and Kitchen Staff can't see the Item Description.

Item Description
An Item Description is for Customers to read any details about the Item on the Online Ordering Site. Remember that staff can't see Item Descriptions in the Production Reports or when making an Order in the Back Office.
Production Notes
Production Notes are for the kitchen staff and catering team to view when making the order. They can include anything about how to prepare the food which could be useful in production. These notes show up on the Production Reports in the Production Module.

Remember that staff can't see Item Descriptions in the Production Reports or when making an Order in the Back Office.
When adding a Menu Item in both Fixed Price and A La Carte Menus, find the Item Description here in the Item Page:
And here when you add a New Item through the Menu Page:

When a Customer orders a Menu on the Online Ordering Site, the Item Description shows up under the Item Name. Click the Black Arrow Icon to expand and collapse the Description.

You can choose to auto-expand the Item Description, so that Customers don't have to click the Black Arrow to view. Go to Setup - Online Ordering - Options. Check 'Expand Online Order Details.'

Remember that Customers can't see Production Notes on the Online Ordering Site.

Production Reports and Product Summary
Production Reports and Product Summary
On a Production Report or Product Summary, the Production Notes show up below the Item Name with an asterix. Find the Product Summary at the bottom of the Order Page in the Back Office. Go to the Production Module for more Production Reports.
If you Export a Production sheet, the Production Notes are found in the Item Summary Tab under the Production Notes Column.
